1. Introduction & Acceptance

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Jointly website at jointly-app.com, the web application, and the mobile applications (collectively, the "Service"), operated by Jointly ("we," "our," or "us").

By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. You must be at least 18 years old to use Jointly.

2. Description of Service

Jointly is a manual financial tracking tool for individuals and couples. It allows you to record transactions, manage accounts, set budgets, track savings goals, and view financial insights — all without connecting to your bank.

Key characteristics of the Service:

• All financial data is entered manually by users
• No bank connections or automatic syncing
• Multi-currency support with approximate exchange rates
• Shared projects for collaborative financial tracking
• Optional AI-powered insights and summaries
• Available as a web application and mobile application

3. Accounts & Registration

To use Jointly, you must create an account and provide accurate, complete information. You are responsible for:

• Maintaining the accuracy of your account information
• Keeping your login credentials secure
• All activity that occurs under your account

Each person may hold only one account. You may delete your account at any time from within the app settings.

4. Shared Projects

Projects are shared workspaces where multiple users can track finances together. When you join a project, all members can view all non-private transactions, accounts, budgets, and insights within that project.

• Only invite people you trust to your projects
• Project owners can remove members and transfer ownership at any time
• Accounts marked as "private" are visible only to the creator and the project owner
• Jointly is not responsible for disputes between project members or for data shared within a project

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any illegal or unauthorized purpose
• Attempt to access another user's data outside of shared projects
• Abuse API rate limits, scrape data, or use automated tools to access the Service
• Impersonate another person or provide false information
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

6. Financial Disclaimer

Jointly is a tracking and organizational tool — it is not a financial advisor, tax consultant, or accounting service. Specifically:

• AI-generated insights are informational only and do not constitute financial advice
• Currency conversion rates are approximate and may differ from actual bank or market rates
• You are solely responsible for the accuracy of data you enter
• We do not validate your entries against bank records or any external source

Always consult a qualified financial professional before making financial decisions.

7. Pricing & Subscriptions

Jointly offers the following tiers:

• Free — up to 50 transactions per month
• Pro — $6.99 per month (features and pricing subject to change)

Specific payment terms and billing details will be communicated when paid subscriptions become available. We reserve the right to modify pricing with reasonable advance notice.

8. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its design, code, branding, and content, is owned by Jointly and protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

You retain full ownership of the data you enter into the Service. By using Jointly, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to process your data solely for the purpose of providing and improving the Service.

9. Service Availability & Limitations

The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We do not guarantee:

• Uninterrupted or error-free access to the Service
• That the Service will meet all of your requirements
• The accuracy of AI-generated insights or currency conversions

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time with reasonable notice. We are not liable for any data loss — you are encouraged to maintain your own records.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:

• Jointly is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including financial losses, loss of data, or loss of profits
• Our total liability for any claim arising from your use of the Service is limited to the total amount you paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim
• Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law (such as liability for fraud or death caused by negligence)

11. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms.

Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including Limitation of Liability, Intellectual Property, and Governing Law) will continue to apply.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and notify you through the app or by email. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
