Terms of Service

1. Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using Jointly ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you disagree with any part of these terms, you may not access the Service.

These Terms apply to all visitors, users, and others who access or use the Service.

2. Description of Service

Jointly is a personal finance tracking application that allows users to:

• Manually track income and expenses
• Manage multiple accounts across different currencies
• Share financial tracking with invited members (joint finance management)
• View analytics and insights about spending patterns
• Access educational content about personal finance

3. User Accounts

3.1 Account Creation

To use certain features of the Service, you must create an account. You agree to:

• Provide accurate, current, and complete information
• Maintain and update your information to keep it accurate
• Maintain the security of your account credentials
• Accept responsibility for all activities under your account
• Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access

3.2 Account Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account and use the Service. By creating an account, you represent and warrant that you meet this age requirement.

3.3 Account Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time for any reason, including but not limited to violation of these Terms. You may also delete your account at any time through the app settings.

3.4 Account Deletion

You have the right to permanently delete your account at any time. By deleting your account, you acknowledge and agree that:

• Deletion is permanent and irreversible - you cannot recover your account or data after deletion
• Your authentication credentials will be permanently removed and you will no longer be able to log in
• All projects you own will be deleted, affecting all members of those projects
• You will be removed from all shared projects you are a member of
• Your transaction history in shared projects will remain visible to other members for accounting integrity

4. User Responsibilities

4.1 Acceptable Use

You agree NOT to:

• Use the Service for any illegal purpose
• Violate any laws in your jurisdiction
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or its systems
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers
• Upload malicious code, viruses, or harmful content
• Impersonate another person or entity
• Use the Service to harass, abuse, or harm others
• Scrape, crawl, or use automated means to access the Service
• Reverse engineer or attempt to extract source code

4.2 Data Accuracy

You are solely responsible for the accuracy of the financial data you enter into the Service. We do not verify, validate, or guarantee the accuracy of any user-entered data.

4.3 Shared Projects

When you invite others to your project or join another user's project, you understand that:

• All members can view and modify shared financial data
• You are responsible for who you invite to your projects
• We are not responsible for disputes between project members
• Removing a member does not delete their previously entered data

4.4 Project Ownership

Each project has one owner who has special responsibilities and privileges:

• Only the owner can delete the project
• Only the owner can remove members from the project
• The owner can transfer ownership to another member at any time
• The owner cannot leave the project without first transferring ownership to another member
• If the owner deletes their account, all projects they own will also be deleted

We strongly recommend that project owners transfer ownership before deleting their account if they want the project to continue for other members.

4.5 Leaving a Project

Non-owner members may leave a project at any time. When you leave a project:

• You will immediately lose access to the project
• Your transaction history will remain visible to other members for accounting integrity
• You can be re-invited to the project later if desired

5. Intellectual Property

5.1 Our Content

The Service and its original content (excluding user-provided content), features, and functionality are and will remain the exclusive property of Jointly and its licensors. The Service is protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws.

5.2 Your Content

You retain ownership of any data you enter into the Service. By using the Service, you grant us a limited license to store, process, and display your data solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you.

6. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

• Implied warranties of merchantability
• Fitness for a particular purpose
• Non-infringement
• Accuracy or reliability of any information
• Uninterrupted or error-free operation

We do not warrant that the Service will meet your requirements, be available at any particular time, or be secure or free of errors.

7. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL JOINTLY, ITS DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, PARTNERS, AGENTS, SUPPLIERS, OR AFFILIATES BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION:

• Loss of profits, data, or goodwill
• Service interruption
• Computer damage or system failure
• Cost of substitute services
• Any damages arising from your use of the Service
• Any financial decisions made based on information from the Service

You acknowledge that you use the Service at your own risk and that you are solely responsible for any financial decisions you make.

8. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Jointly and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to:

• Your use of the Service
• Your violation of these Terms
• Your violation of any rights of another party
• Any content you submit to the Service

9. Third-Party Services

The Service may contain links to or integrate with third-party services (such as Google Sign-In). We are not responsible for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party services. Your use of such services is governed by their respective terms and policies.

10. Modifications to Service

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service (or any part thereof) at any time, with or without notice. We shall not be liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the Service.

11. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will provide notice of significant changes by posting the new Terms on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Lebanon, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Lebanon.

13. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

14. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Jointly regarding the Service and supersede any prior agreements.
